BIOGRAPHY

 Katarina Holmberg aka Tigerlight

Katarina Holmberg, aka Tigerlight, is a singer, composer, podcast host, producer, DJ, and voice-over artist based in Berlin. 

She graduated from Southampton University with a first-class degree in Music where she studied classical music and jazz focusing on composition and performance. 

After graduating she started working as a session vocalist including five series as a backing vocalist for TV shows like the X-Factor (UK). She then started producing and writing toplines and recording the vocals for dance music releases under her alias Tigerlight.

As Tigerlight she has gathered millions of Youtube streams and international radio support, she’s performed as a vocalist and DJ in clubs across Europe and the USA and on main stages at Glastonbury Festival, The Secret Garden Party Festival, Glade Festival, Boomtown Festival, Lovebox. She has released records with labels: 'Ministry of Sound', 'AEI', 'Party Like Us', 'Punks', ‘Gold Channel Recordings’, ‘Universal’, ‘Suicide Dub’ and 'Never Say Die’, her own imprint ‘Tigerlight Musik’. 

She’s guest-hosted DnB shows on BBC 1Xtra, co-created weekly comedy sketches for Crissy Cris, and featured on a spoof music documentary with Mistajam. Over five years she has produced and hosting bi-weekly in-depth artist interview podcasts with guests such as Jeff Mills, Claptone, Black Sun Empire, for platforms like Beatport and Digitally Imported and produced and hosted Groove Magazine’s chart show.

Alongside her dance productions, she composes music for film. She wrote the end credits theme for the prequel to the Oscar nominated ‘Fathers and Sons’; award winning documentary - ‘Return to Homs’ which was chosen to open the Amsterdam Documentary Film Festival and has gone on to win festival awards including the ‘World Cinema Award’ at Sundance in the US, at which she was a featured ASCAP composer. 

She also scored the full soundtracks to two documentaries; Kurdistan Dream or Reality and Generation Jihad shown initially on the German/French channel Arte and then aired worldwide, and written the end credits theme for the GSA cinema release Treppe Aufwärts.

She runs the sample pack label Soul Rush Records which was established in 2012 and has gone on to produce pack after pack of industry-leading vocal and instrumental collections, distributed by Loopmasters, featuring London and Berlin's top session vocalists and producers.

She is a Lecturer in Applied Vocal Technique on the Professional Musicianship degree at BIMM Berlin. Passionate about soul and jazz music also Katarina can also be heard singing live with bands in respected live venues such as Quasimodo and A-Trane in Berlin.
